In 2020, we launched Anne’s Friends with a simple mission: make it easier for families to find the right therapists and providers when they need them most. Then life happened.
An unexpected health crisis during the Pandemic forced us to pause. Anne, our founder, learned firsthand what it means receive an unexpected diagnosis and to be on the receiving end of care—to trust the process, lean on the highly trained and compassionate medical teams at MSK in New York City, and prioritize her own healing without apology.
That experience didn’t just restore Anne’s health. It deepened her understanding of what it means to truly serve others. Now, we’re back—not just recharged, but more committed than ever to connecting families with the care they deserve.
Why Anne’s Friends Exists
Anne Cunningham isn’t just our founder—she’s a former special education teacher, administrator, and educational advocate who spent years fielding the same frustrating phone calls:
“Do you know a speech therapist who works with toddlers?”
“Can you recommend an OT for my aging parent?”
“Where do I even start looking for help?”
Every time, Anne would dive into internet searches on their behalf, only to hit dead ends, outdated listings, and endless phone tag. It was exhausting. It was inefficient. And it shouldn’t have been that hard.
At the same time, Anne was meeting outstanding therapists who were trying to grow their practices but was experiencing difficulty being found by the people they could serve.
So Anne created what she wished already existed: a trusted, searchable directory where families could find qualified therapists and providers quickly, confidently, and without the runaround.
